The program of studies of the Hershey High School
is planned to meet the needs of the youth of the Derry Township School District. A major task of the school is to accommodate learners with divergent needs, goals, capabilities and interests. To this end, an effort is made to nurture individual skills and to satisfy individual needs.
It is also the responsibility of the school to furnish opportunities for students to participate in cultural activities that may otherwise not be available to them. Extracurricular and enrichment programs are offered to satisfy this aspect.

Hershey High School was built in 1996 and expanded in 2007. The facility is 231,000 square feet, has a card access system; phone/television/internet access in all classrooms; auditorium seating for 1,300; two CAD labs; classrooms for family and consumer sciences; full gym, weight and cardio exercise rooms;
full band and orchestra/chorus rooms; three art rooms; closed circuit television capacity; a production office and library/media center.


  • Kindergarten Registration Opens Next Month

    Kindergarten Registration Opens Feb. 1

    Registration for Derry Township children who will be 5 years of age before September 1, 2017 and plan to attend kindergarten in DTSD this coming fall will be opening February 1. Kindergarten registration is a two-part process: completion of an online information-gathering pre-registration form by a parent or guardian and later a visit to the Early Childhood Center for parent/guardian and child.   • New Contract Agreement

    Board Approves 4-Year Agreement With Education Association

    The Derry Township Board of School Directors approved a four-year agreement with the Hershey Education Association (HEA) at its meeting Monday, December 19. The pact will go into effect at the conclusion of the current three-year contract, which ends June 30, 2017. The new agreement will cover the period July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2021.

    McFarland Retained as Superintendent for an Additional 4 Years

    At its December 19 business meeting, the Derry Township Board of School Directors took action to retain Superintendent Joe McFarland through the 2020-2021 school year. McFarland was first named Superintendent in February, 2014. The new contract approved by the board will commence July 1, 2017 and extend his term as DTSD’s top administrator four more years.
