Meet the Principals
 
Email Jacquelyn Castleman began her duties as the Elementary Principal for Grades K-5 with the 2014-2015 school year. Prior to that, she had served DTSD as the principal of the Hershey Early Childhood Center since 2006.

 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in speech and language from East Stroudsburg University and a master’s degree in special education from Millersville University.
 
Castleman has previously served as an elementary literacy coach for the Derry Township School District. In this position, she worked collaboratively with the elementary principals and the director of curriculum and instruction to ensure a match between curriculum, instruction, and assessment. She also supported the analysis of data and student learning outcomes, modeled lessons that focused on specific skills identified through the analysis, and provided training and consultation for teachers.

 

Castleman’s teaching career began in Lancaster as a learning support teacher for the School District of Lancaster. Before joining Derry Township schools, she also worked as a staff development and training specialist and as an education consultant for Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit.
 

Email Jena Funck serves as the Assistant Elementary Principal for the Primary Elementary School. She assumed that role for the start of the 2014-2015 school year.  

Funck has been with Derry Township as a 5th grade teacher since 2007.  Jena holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from Millersville University.  She received a master’s degree in educational administration from Temple University.  She also holds a reading specialist certificate along with her K-12 principal certification.
Prior to teaching in Derry Township, she had experiences teaching special education, instructional support, and 5th grade at Central Dauphin School District.

She is a certified regional trainer for the nationally recognized professional development program, Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) and has a special interest in using technology in the classroom.
