    The program of studies of the Hershey High School
    is planned to meet the needs of the youth of the Derry Township School District. A major task of the school is to accommodate learners with divergent needs, goals, capabilities and interests. To this end, an effort is made to nurture individual skills and to satisfy individual needs.
    It is also the responsibility of the school to furnish opportunities for students to participate in cultural activities that may otherwise not be available to them. Extracurricular and enrichment programs are offered to satisfy this aspect.
     

    Hershey High School was built in 1996 and expanded in 2007. The facility is 231,000 square feet, has a card access system; phone/television/internet access in all classrooms; auditorium seating for 1,300; two CAD labs; classrooms for family and consumer sciences; full gym, weight and cardio exercise rooms;
    full band and orchestra/chorus rooms; three art rooms; closed circuit television capacity; a production office and library/media center.

  • End of November Schedule

    There will be no school for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade on Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20 to allow for parent-teacher conferences. There will be no classes for all students, K-12, on Wednesday, November 21 through Friday, November 23 for Thanksgiving Recess. All schools and offices (including the District Office) will be closed during that recess. Classes will resume on Monday, November 26 with a two-hour late start that day to accommodate staff professional development and training.

  • PA Department of Education Launches “Future Ready PA Index”

    The PA Department of Education has launched its new “Future Ready PA Index” with a dashboard that allows for a look at how Pennsylvania schools – including those here in DTSD - are educating students. In addition to proficiency, the dashboard illustrates growth, achievement, and other data by student group - such as economically disadvantaged students, English Learners, students receiving special education services, and racial and ethnic groups.

  • District Seeks Community Input For School Climate Survey

    Derry Township School District is administering the PA Department of Education, Office of Safe Schools “School Climate Survey” and is seeking constituent input. District residents are encouraged to complete the online survey, providing community insight on the important subject of school climate. For more information, click the graphic.

  • Ratings Web Site Lauds DTSD as Among Best in the Country

    Derry Township School District has been awarded an overall “A+” by Niche, a web site that publishes research on U.S. colleges, schools, neighborhoods and companies. In the recently-released 2019 rankings, DTSD earned high marks locally, statewide and nationally in categories ranging from school safety, best places to teach and best teachers. The site ranked the district as overall “Best” in Dauphin County, #19 (of 498) in Pennsylvania and #163 among the 10,758 public school districts rated across the nation.

Student Parking

    Register graphic Online registration for student parking passes at Hershey High School is now open. Juniors and seniors wishing to park on campus must carefully review the “Student Driver Rules and Regulations Agreement” document that is linked on the parking registration site for complete parking information. Eligible and registered juniors and seniors will be assigned a numbered tag (for the lower lots or Pebble Beach), but not a numbered spot. 

    NOTE: You will be required to sign in to Google using your Derry Township student credentials in order to register.
