Joseph McFarland was named Superintendent in February, 2014. He has been directing the district's curriculum and instruction since the spring of 2009.
He initially came to the Derry Township School District during the 2001-02 school year. He first served as Assistant Principal for the Elementary School and in the fall of 2002, McFarland became Principal of the Primary Elementary School.
His education includes a Bachelor's in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Development from Millersville University.
McFarland also earned a master's equivalency and supervisory certification in curriculum and instruction at Millersville University. He holds a Master’s in Teaching and Curriculum from Penn State University. He also obtained his K-12 Principal’s Certification from PSU and his Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility from Temple University.
McFarland began his teaching career at the Hempfield School District in Lancaster County where he taught elementary students for 14 years. He served as Head Teacher at Hempfield's Rohrerstown Elementary School during his last six years at the school. McFarland is married and has three daughters.
Jason Reifsnyder joined the district as the Assistant to the Superintendent for Personnel and Student Support Services in August of 2013. Mr. Reifsnyder holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Agricultural Education from Penn State University. He also obtained his K-12 principal’s certification from Immaculata University. Reifsnyder began his teaching career at Garden Spot High School where he taught various science and agricultural classes for eight years. He was an assistant principal at Eastern Lebanon County Middle School and Manheim Township Middle School for 4 years. He most recently served as a building level principal for 4 years in the Manheim Township School District the last 3 years at Manheim Township Middle School. Reifsnyder is married and has two sons.
Dr. Stacy Winslow began her tenure as Assistant to the Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment with the start of the 2014-2015 School Year
Previously, she was principal at Hershey Middle School for two years. Winslow spent 20 years at Manheim Township School District where she taught Middle School and High School Social Studies before moving into administration. Since coming to Derry Township, Winslow has been focused on meeting students’ needs through differentiated professional learning, with an emphasis on a district conference experience and instructional coaching. Winslow is passionate about curriculum and the power it has to level the playing field and enrich the learning opportunities presented to students.
Winslow holds a bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education from Elizabethtown College and a Masters Degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Penn State University. Winslow completed her doctoral program in Educational Leadership in January of 2010 from Immaculata University. Winslow is married and has two daughters.
