All students interested in going out for a district-sponsored sport team are required to complete a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation. As a service to its students, Derry Township School District will offer physical exams on Tuesday, June 6th and Tuesday, August 1, 2017. The cost is $22. Please call 531-2205 to schedule an appointment. No sports physicals will be given at the school before winter and spring seasons. The school physical is one option to student athletes. Families may also opt to go to a private-practice physician for the examination. Remember: completing the physical is the responsibility of the student athlete and not that of the district.
The Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation should be completed after June 1 for the first season of competition in the new athletic year. All subsequent sport seasons in an athletic year require a re-certification.
In addition, those athletes competing in wrestling must complete an examination for certification of weight classes.
Impact Testing is for Student-Athletes entering 7th, 9th and 11th grade or anyone that is new to a sport. Testing will begin immediately after school in High School Room G236 for High School Students and in Middle School Room A134A for Middle School Students.
